KDF
KDF is added here to enhance performance of activated carbon (below) and to aid in the removal of iron and hydrogen sulfide.
Activated Carbon

Fine mesh resin is used for increased efficiency and to enhance performance with high iron content water.
Because of our desire to offer an environmentally friendly water softener, we worked with one of our manufacturers to create the most water and salt efficient electric water softener available.
We chose the Vortech brand softener tank because it’s designed to have 25-30% less wastewater than a normal softener.
The resin beads we picked have been specially selected because they require 25% to 40% less salt when they’re being cleaned. They’re also able to handle much higher levels of iron compared to regular resin beads, and use literally about 50% less water to clean with.
We combined the special softener tank and resin beads with a highly programmable Fleck 5600SE control valve to allow for precise adjustments of the system. This allows the softener to take full advantage of the unique resin and tank capabilities.
The net result is an extraordinarily efficient softener that will dramatically reduce operating costs as well as environmental impact. The Vortech Softeners aren’t the cheapest softeners on the market, but they’re certainly among the least expensive to operate compared to any other electric softener. Check them out!
